Weekly Skills Contests 
College pearls register annually to gain new career skills and graduate with a career jumpstart certificate.

During the school year, college pearls participate weekly in
individual and team skills contests recorded on video.



Pearls Select Skills From The
Skills List

When enough points are scored in a specific skill during any weekly skill demonstration, a skill award is received. When sufficient points have been received, a skill level jumpstart certificate is issued.

Internship Opportunities




The College Skills Challenge Works As Follows
 



Step 1: Pearl Obtains a College Skills Challenge Sponsor
Sponsors are recruited by the area manager. Each sponsor selects one or more pearls to sponsor, or college chapters to sponsor.

Step 2: Pearl Selects a Skills Project Coach (Chapter Support Council)
The coach helps the pearl select projects to complete each week for 50 weeks, and suggests ways to perform high-scoring video skill demonstration sessions required to complete each project, and earn skills needed to advance through skill levels.

Step 3: Pearl Completes Weekly Skill Demonstrations (50)
Videos are made of skill demonstrations and posted on social media.  


Step 4: Pearl Uploads Weekly Completion Reports
When each demonstration is complete, pearl prepares a project completion report, and uploads the report document into his or her online account.

Step 5: Pearl Reviews Volunteer Scoring Panel Scores   
This panel scores each report and each accompanying video using a rubric for each skill demonstrated. Up to 15 skill points are awarded for each report. 

Step 6: Pearl Receives "Intern Ready" Certification - 400 Points
Each year, when 400 points have been received, the pearl is certified "intern ready" and is eligible to be hired by any college sponsor as a college intern.

Step 7: Monthly Sponsor Review of Intern Ready Pearls
Each pearl has an online skills profile that enables sponsors to identify intern ready candidates to fill intern positions.

You may select from the approved project list or you may create a new project using the Skill Projects Manual.
