HomeExemplar Mentors

Exemplars Are Successful Professionals In Targeted Industries Who Make Presentations To Pearls In High School Chapters On Exemplar Mentoring Days.

Weekly Roundtable Discussion Sessions
High school pearls at each grade level in each chapter participate in weekly roundtable discussion sessions where they vote to select exemplars in various industries. This creates a Chapter Exemplar List in each chapter. This list is organized by industry. (Our 16 targeted industries are listed below.) The goal is to select at least one exemplar in each of the targeted industries.

Industry Groups
Each high school pearl at each grade level in each chapter, and each college pearl in your area is free to select 1 to 3 industry groups of interest. Pearls are expected to attend the presentation of the exemplars in the industries selected. Use the targeted industry list below to select industries of interest.

Industry Committees
Industry committees establish policies used by teachers advisors in each high school chapter to facilitate the process of identifying prospective exemplars in each industry.

Exemplar Mentoring Days
These are special events planned and scheduled by each chapter during the school year. Each exemplar on the Chapter Exemplar List is invited to make a presentation. Each presentation should include the following: 1) the personal story of that exemplar, and 2) list of specific soft skills in demand by employers. A  "question and answer" period, and an informal networking period should be included. If the exemplar cannot visit the school, a SKYPE presentation is acceptable.

Mentoring Opportunities
Networking during each exemplar mentoring day creates 1-on-1 mentoring opportunities. When a pearl meets an exemplar that he or she would like to consider as a mentor, that pearl is free to "invite" that exemplar to become his or her mentor. A PWP mentoring guidebook must be provided, which includes a mentor agreement and a mentee agreement.

Mentoring Facilitation
A volunteer mentoring facilitator is assigned to each mentor/mentee relationship to monitor progress, answer questions, resolve concerns that arise, answer questions, and provide guidance.
